Comparable pressureClaimant rate and the mean of male and female life expectancy each contribute 50%. The same formula applies across nations. Missing required inputs are not ranked. Other layers remain separate.
PIP dataPIP cases are sourced from DWP Stat-Xplore. PIP measures are displayed separately and are not included in the composite score.
CoverageEnglish IMD is official. Recorded crime uses the latest matched Home Office CSP snapshot for England. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland show only layers with source-backed local data.
    How the rankings work

Comparable pressure uses the same source-backed indicators and weights in every nation. Areas missing a required input are not ranked. It is a relative comparison, not a measure of change over time.

National deprivation measures remain separate. Birth statistics and housing affordability cover England and Wales. Birth figures are descriptive and excluded from comparable pressure. Council service spending covers England; full-service and district councils have separate layers. Figures are actual expenditure in cash terms, not budgets or an assessment of service quality.

A change in rank is not the same as a change in living conditions. School demographics show population shares; shares alone do not establish speed of change or pressure on services.
